Ombre Hair

Hello my lovelies, how are you all? So today I have a hair post for you all talking about my experience of when I got my hair dip dyed - yes dip dyed. I think it has to be said that I am the least adventurous person when it comes to my hair. My classic hair style is straight and long - easy which don't get me wrong I do really like but sometimes I would like to mix it up a bit - even for occasions such as nights out or my proms I still have it straight. I have wanted to change it up a bit for a while now but I've just been really scared. I have a slight fear of hairdressers - not a phobia but I guess that I have struggled to find a good hairdresser. Usually the ones I've gone to before don't listen to what you want and just do what they want which is usually the complete opposite. Whenever I have found a good hairdresser in the past they always seem to have a baby and I'm stuck back in the same position seeking a new hairdresser which always leaves me with a feeling of dread in my stomach before getting my hair cut. I've always had long hair except for one year in Primary school and I think when I was in year 8 I had a bob cut. I would spend ages considering getting my hair cut short and I find that there seems to be a fashion in your year group that always happens at the same time when everyone wants to get their hair cut short. As soon as I got my hair cut short I would change my mind, the fashion would change and I would go through that slow and painful process of growing my hair back which for most doesn't take long but when you're constantly damaging your hair by straightening it - trust me it takes years. I really wish that split ends didn't exist. Apart from straightening my hair I don't really damage it at all. I always towel dry my hair and up till now I have never died it before. After moaning to people at work, friends and family for weeks now about how I want to get my hair dyed I finally found that balls to get it done.

I have naturally dark brown hair and in some lights it verges on being black. I was set on getting my hair dip dyed but I wasn't 100% on what colour and even in the hairdressers I wasn't sure, I just went with the flow really. I ended up getting my hair dyed ombre. Ombre is when you bleach the ends leaving a lighter colour which tends to be blond as you basically strip away the colour from your hair but the phrase 'dip dyed' can apply to any two tone colour hairstyle. I got my hair done professionally as I don't trust myself. I wanted a natural look and I thought if I did it myself it either wouldn't work or it would go very badly wrong. I didn't want a thick line running around my hair which knowing me would be wonky, I wanted it to look more natural and floaty. The hairdresser bleached my hair which was left in for about 20 minutes. She then washed out the bleach and applied a toner which was left in for about 5 minutes to give the ends some warmth and to make it more or a natural difference. This was then also washed out. She then blow dried my hair and gave me some lovely thick waves which I could never do myself. I find drying your hair whilst sectioning your hair with the hairbrush too much to cope with in one motion and it all goes wrong. I will probably get a massive knot as the hairbrush gets stuck to my hair and whilst trying to pull the brush out I will probably drop the hairdryer on my foot and it all goes to pot. The good thing about only dying your ends is that it only needs to be done around every 4 - 5 months and once the colours been stripped once it's easier to change the colours up if you wanted a change. I think the colour I went for is called caramel which is very fitting as I have a new obsession for caramel. I was never that fussed by it before but now Cadburys Caramel eggs and caramel lattes just fill me with way too much excitement.

For those of you considering to get this done I would highly recommend it as you only live once and I think that it will look really nice for the Spring and Summer. Then for Winter I might go fully dark again or maybe get some warm red tones put in - who knows. Like I mentioned before bleaching your hair isn't exactly healthy for it but there are creams and serums you can buy to moisturise and nourish your hair. I am currently using the Tresemme 60 second moisture renew treatment shots that you massage into your hair and leave for 60 seconds before washing out. I use one a week and I just find that it leaves my hair looking healthier afterwards which lasts for quite a few days and not just until I next wash my hair. I hope you enjoyed reading this post my lovelies.

Feburary Glossybox 2015

Hello my lovelies and a Happy Valentines Day to you all! For todays post I thought I would write one on my February Glossybox which was a special Valentines edition one so it seemed fitting to upload this on Valentines Day. I was really chuffed with this months box and it will be up there as one of my favourites. My personal favourite products from last months box would have to be the Organic Lip Balm and the brown eyeliner by Me Me Me. I am really enjoying my subscription to Glossybox as it is the gift that keeps on giving with lots of new and exciting products to try each month. I love the packaging of this box I think that it's super cute and quirky. I love the white box with the hot pink writing I love wearing that pink as a nail polish colour.

Hydro Silk Razor By Wilkinson Sword
I'm not going to lie but this was the first product I noticed in the box and my initial thought was that's a really random product. I guess it's one of those beauty products that we all use but we don't tend to get excited about, I guess another example of one of these products would be toothpaste. This probably isn't a great thing for a beauty blogger to say but I'll be honest with you and when it comes to shaving I usually just use disposable razors. I don't know why I just find the cheap and cheerful. Although saying that this one is priced at £9.99 and you do get several uses out of these so price wise it probably evens out in the long run. The good thing about this razor is that it contains a moisturising serum which will be more beneficial for you skin then just a basic razor blade. I've surprised myself in the fact I'm actually excited to try this which is something I didn't think I would say but I just simply want to know if all these fancy razors are worth the hype and the effort of replacing the blades. Seeing as everyone in the 21st century must use these razors rather than disposable ones so I'm pushing the boat out with this.

Mineral Eyeshadow By Marsk
Moving onto make-up now, this is a gorgeous loose and highly pigmented metallic grey eyeshadow. This Valentines Glossybox was inspired by the release of the Fifty Shades Of Grey film and to be fitting this eyeshadow is in the shade Fifty Shades. It is a gorgeous grey which would work really well for a smokey eye. I find posse eyeshadows are more pigmented although I'll be honest in the fact I use pressed more and will only very rarely use loose as I just find them more time consuming. You've got to be careful that you don't go OTT with the powder and it's really easy to just make a big mess everywhere from dropping powder just from opening and shutting the lid which I wouldn't trust in my handbag. Saying that when I have the time and energy I will use loose eyeshadows and I really like this one as I have slightly grey tones in my eyes so I think that this eyeshadow will help to emphasise my eyes. Marsk is a new brand to me but they claim to be a brand that specialises in natural and organic products. It is a more expensive brand but they produce some gorgeous products which are definitely worth checking out. I've got my eye on an eyeshadow called Mudcake which is a gorgeous dark brown. These are individually priced at £14.49 each.

Magnetic Nail Polish By Essie
I thought I would stick with the grey theme and talk about this product next. This was probably the second product I noticed in the box and one that got me very excited. I absolutely adore Essie nail polishes and I am really excited to welcome this gem to the collection. It is a gorgeous metallic grey shade with a snake skin effect magnetic, it is in the shade Snake, Rattle and Roll which I love the name of. A tip with magnetic nail polishes is that if you hold the magnet at the side of the bottle it will demonstrate what the effect will look like on your nails. With magnetic polishes you apply one or two coats of the polish normally and when you apply the next coat, hold the magnet over your nail for 10 seconds to get the special effect. I have only recently been converted to grey nail polishes but I am really into them at the moment and I have seen a lot of beauty bloggers blogging and instagraming pictures of grey nail polish so I would say it's definitely on trend at the moment. This is priced at £9.99 so a little more then the usual Essie formulas but it would make a lovely gift or a treat for yourself.

Lip And Cheek Rose Quartet By So Susan
This is the second So Susan product that I have achieved from Glossybox. The first was a concealer quad and this is in the same design yet with cheek and lip stains instead in the shade Warm Rose. This quad contains four rose inspired shades which I would say are of a more cool tone and more suited for the Autumn and Winter. I would wear the two shades on the left as lip colours and the two shades on the right as cheek colours. I have naturally dark pigmented lips so I can't wear nude colours but at the same time I'm not a fan of dark red and pink blusher so in that way it works in really well for me. So Susan claim to be a natural brand against animal testing. It's a really useful size so perfect for taking in your make-up bag. Sticking with the rose theme I think the products also contain different rose extracts which may be to do with the pigmentation but I'm not 100% sure on that. This is priced at £8 which I think isn't two bad considering you're getting four multi-purpose shades.

Tinties Lip Butter By Royal Apothic
I think that I'm most excited by this product - just look at the packaging it's gorgeous. For those of you who regularly follow my blog you will all know that I'm a big fan of Rose Gold - literally obsessed. This is a gorgeous coral tinted lip butter which I think will look amazing in the Spring/Summer. The good thing about tinted lip butters is that they provide a really nice subtle colour yet they are also more nourishing for your lips then a lipstick. You could wear this on it's own or if you wanted a more dramatic look then you could wear a lip gloss on top. I can see this becoming my everyday lip colour in the summer as it's an easy to wear bright, fun summer shade. These are individually priced at $14 dollars so pricy for a lip butter but this is of an amazing quality so if you're someone who would rather spend more and have fewer products yet the ones you own are of good quality then I would recommend that you have a look at getting one of these. If you're a fan of orange lips then you will love this one.

Love Hearts
The last little product in the box was a lovely and cheeky pack of Love Hearts. I can't remember when I last had these but they were a childhood classic and I forgot how much I loved the taste of these as I really like sherbet. So a big thank you to you Glossybox for my little sweet treat, I loved the Valentines inspired box and hold onto your socks kids, but this may have been my favourite box so far - crazy I know.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post my lovelies and I hope that whether you're single or all loved up you have all had a lovely day and evening. Let me know in the comments what you all got in this months box and if you have tried any of these products and what you thought of them.

January Glossybox 2015

Hello my lovelies, I have another Glossybox post for you. This is my second Glossybox and I am thrilled with it, I think it might be my favourite one so far. I have loved using the products from the December 2014 box. My personal highlights were the Zap! Zap! Zap! Gets That Chap Spot Treatment and the Tresemme 60 Second Renewal Hair And Scalp Treatment Shots. The January box has the classic Glossybox packaging with the pink and the black which I love I think these colours look really good together. The January box also consists of five full size products. This box for me featured more make-up products then last time which I love as make-up is my favourite part of the beauty spectrum.

Eye Liner Pencil By Me Me Me
I was so excited to see a product from Me Me Me in the box. I love Me Me Me with their spiritual branding they do some really gorgeous products which are also affordable. The eye liner pencil is in the shade Clay which is a rich dark brown shade. If you read my blog post on A Spontaneous Superdrug Splurge  then you will know that I recently picked up a brown eye liner from Barry M, typical timing I know. I have recently been really into brown eye liner as I think it looks really pretty for an everyday make-up look. It defines your eyes yet it also looks very natural and it isn't obvious that you're wearing eyeliner or the fact that it's brown. I love kohl eye liners in fact they are the only eye liners that I will use. Me and liquid liners just don't get on and I don't think we ever will. I find it really difficult to apply and don't even get me started on attempting to do a flick with it - just no. You can purchase this for £4 and I already know that it will find a way into my everyday make-up routine.

Colorluxe Powder Blush By Nicka K New York
This was an unknown brand to me but looking at the website they seem to do some really nice products which also seem to be affordable prices which is a nice added bonus. I'm in love with this product just by looking at it, I mean it has rose gold packaging what more could you ask for? I haven't seen a blusher like this before but I think it's a really good niche idea. It's a lose blush which I would normally avoid like the plague as I'm always very cautious with blusher I don't like lot's of colour on my cheeks I just don't think it suits me. Although hidden under the lid is a sponge which absorbs the powder allowing you to dap the blusher onto your cheeks making it easy to build up so that you get the coverage you want. I just think this is a really good idea. It's nice and compact so it would be easy to take with you on the go and to put in your handbag. This is priced at £8.95 and I think that it's worth picking one up just to try it. I would describe the shade as a warm coral although it looks more pink once applied to the cheeks.

All Over Glow By Jelly Pong Pong
Again this was another unknown brand to me but you have to love it just for the name. That's another think I love about Glossybox is the fact you can discover new brands. This is an oil-free gel highlight which immediately appeals to me as its oil free and having oily skin I can always appreciate less oil on my face. I think you apply this just like any liquid highlighter. Colour wise it reminds me of Watt's Up by Benefit which I am currently loving but in a liquid gel form as it has warmer tones that once blended leave a gold iridescent finish to your cheek bones. Once applied form the tube it appears very dark but don't be put off by this as once blended it will adapt to your skin tone leaving a gorgeous shimmer. When I say shimmer I mean a lot of shimmer so if you're not a fan of glittery highlighters then I wouldn't recommend this but if you're like me and you love a bit of glitter then you'll love this. I think it would look amazing on a night out. You can order one of these for £10.

Organic Lip Balm In Superfruits By Naked Lips
I was really chuffed when I saw this product in my Glossybox for several reasons. One - it's unnaturally cold at the moment so I'm using a lot of lip balm. Two - I needed a new lip balm as I'm running low. Three - the fact it's in a tube so you don't have to apply it with your finger which can't be that hygienic. Working in a shop I feel it would be more hygienic for me to use a lip balm like this especially after dealing with money it just seems like a good idea to use one of these without having to wash my hands first. Four - it smells amazing. It's in the scent super fruits which includes blueberries, acai, goji, baobab and pomegranate. To be it smells a cross between sweets and these blueberry cereal bars I used to have when I was younger. It claims to be 100% natural and full of goodness for you lips which appeals to me as you don't want loads of artificial chemicals in it which cause your lips to peel which means you apply more and you're stuck in this cycle. It's a really good pocket size lip balm and you can pick one up for £5 which I will admit is a little pricy for a lip balm.

Revitalizing Face Toner By Kueshi Natural And Pleasant Cosmetics
Skin product wise I think that this month every box received a facial toner and the fact that it's pink makes me excited - yes I know how sad that sounds. This toner contains calendula, chamomile and aloe vera which is meant to rehydrate your skin. You can apply toner after cleansing your face and it is meant to sooth your skin and close your pores. I have very fussy skin. I pretty much always use Simple skin care products as they are very gentle and they suit my skin type. I have naturally oily skin and I find that when ever I use different make-up remover from other brands it leaves me looking incredibly oily - that includes more high end brands as well. The good thing about Simple is that it's very natural, easy to get hold of yet it's also very affordable. This therefore leaves me cautious to try this product but I definitely will try it and I will leave a comment to this post at to how it affected my skin. You can purchase one of these for £10.70 which will give you 200ml. It does smell nice to be fair - not that scent should be a factor when choosing a facial toner.

I hope you enjoyed this post my lovelies. Let me know in the comments what you got in your Glossybox's and if you have tried any of these products and what you thought of the. Thank you for reading!

January Favourites 2015

Good evening my lovelies, I hope you've all had a relaxing Sunday. I can't believe that this is the first favourites post of 2015, it's scary how fast time is going at the moment. Unfortunately last January I seemed to have spot issues. Now I don't want to tempt fate but for a few months I had been lucky with my skin in the fact I didn't have many spots or break outs. I know there are ways to avoid spots such as eating healthily which I feel I do but I think maybe an over indulgence in chocolates over Christmas has caused my skin to suffer. So a lot of products in this post are ones that I have used to over come these spots - why do spots exist? What good do they actually do?

Tea Tree Squeaky-Clean Scrub from The Body Shop
I thought that I would talk about all the spot related products first to get them out of the way. Whenever I'm looking spotty I always use this face scrub when it comes to exfoliating my face. Tea Tree is meant to be good at getting rid of spots and I do notice that mine disappear faster after using this. The Body Shop are full of natural products so they are good for people with sensitive skin. This scrub is suitable for all skin types and it leaves your skin feeling all fresh and zingy afterwards. Like other face scrubs it removes any dirt, oil or dead skin cells from your face which will leave your skin feeling super soft afterwards and it makes your foundation appear a lot smoother. You should exfoliate your face about once a week. One thing that I will say about this product is that I don't use it all the time as I find that if I use it over and over then it can dry my skin out after a while which is saying something as I have really oily skin.

Zap! Zap! Zap! Gets That Chap, Day And Night Spot Cream by Anatomicals
Usually I tend to stay away from spot treatment products as when I have used them previously I have found them to spread my spots and sometimes I think that it's best to let them disappear naturally. I got this product in my December Glossybox and I will admit that I was a little apprehensive to try it as I know nothing about the brand and like I said I haven't got on well with spot treatment products in the past. I finally plucked up the courage to try it (sounds silly I know) and I genuinely can't get over how good this product is. It has two parts: a day and a night product. I don't know what the difference is but the day product appears clear and I find that it absorbs into my skin quicker then the night one which appears creamier and it feels more moisturising. I don't know how it works but I think it dries out the spot and it makes them reduce in size and redness throughout the day after just one application. You can purchase this on Asos and I would highly recommend it if you are prone to spots. When I have a no make-up day then I will apply this throughout the day but if I'm wearing make-up then I apply it after moisturising my face and it absorbs into my skin quickly so I can apply my make-up soon afterwards. I don't think I could live without this after trying it.

Confessions Of A Concealaholic By Benefit
This is the last product in my favourites post to do with spots. I've lost count of the amount of times I've written spot now, I hate that word. Anyway, no body wants to look spotty and I find the best concealer to cover up spots in the Bo-ing concealer by Benefit. I have two shades which came in a Benefit pallet which unfortunately has been discontinued but once I've finished this one I will re-purchase the Bo-ing concealer. There are two shades in the pallet in 1 and 2. Currently as I'm paler in the winter I have been just using 1 but when I'm more tanned in the summer I use them both together or 2. It is a cream to powder concealer which blends in really easily to your skin. I find that it's really good at also reducing redness. I wouldn't use it for dark circles but when it comes to spots I always turn to this. It lasts a long time and I just set it in place with some powder and you're good to go.

Lid Stuff in Whats Nude By Soap And Glory
Eyeshadow wise I have found myself turning to this little gem pretty much every day. I love neutral shades as I find them quick and easy to use and I just think that they look really subtle and pretty for an everyday look. It's a good handbag size yet you get a good amount of product. I would recommend this to anyone who loves neutral shades or if you're starting out with make-up. It contains three matte and one shimmer shades. Recently I have enjoyed applying these over cream eyeshadow basis and then using this pallet to contour with. These shadows are really pigmented and creamy and they will last a long time without creasing. These are really good dupes for the Naked 2 Basics pallet by Urban Decay and there is also a really similar Mac quad to this one. I also love the fact that these have names I just think it's really cute. These are cool tone taupe shades and I think my favourites would have to be Pink T and Aubersheen. If you wanted to read a more detailed review that I have written previously then you can click here.

60 Second Treatment Renewal Hair And Scalp Shot By Tresemme
I have been all into improving my hair care routine recently and this is another product that I have added to it. This is another product that I received in my December Glossybox. It's a box which contains four treatment shots of which you apply one once a week. I first apply my shampoo then wash it out, after which I apply one of these tubes throughout my hair from my scalp to my ends and you leave it in for 60 seconds before washing it out. I then apply a small amount of conditioner just to my ends. You can get different formulations of these treatment shots such as the Platinum Strength one but as I thought I always use shampoos and conditioners as heat protection and repairers due to me straightening my hair, a moisture renew product is just what my hair needs. I find that this leaves my hair feeling really soft afterwards and it just makes it look healthier. The good thing about this product is that it leaves your hair feeling soft for days after washing and after washing your hair without it and not just the day after using this product. As my hair is dry from straightening it and the cold weather my hair can also do with a bit of added moisture. The good thing about this is that as you get four shots it will last you a month before you need to pick up another.

There you go my January favourites. I'm sorry for the lack of make-up products and for the amount of times I have written the word 'spot'. Let me know in the comments what your favourite beauty products have been this past month.
